This training course is one important task within the project plan of Biorisk Management training project in 2020 (BRM 2020) which is “Engage with Vietnamese Military Medical University to Integrate BRM Curriculum” delivered by the Institute of Environmental Health and Sustainable Development (IEHSD) in collaboration with the Vietnam One Health University Network (VOHUN) suported and sponsored by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency Biological Threat Reduction Program (DTRA BTRP), Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), United States.
Candidates those participated in this course are currently either Lab staff and lecturers of VMMU and are expected to become the focal personnel for BRM curriculum activities in general and especially in developing the plan for BRM subject to be integrated into 1 current Module: Environment Health or Continuing Medication education (CME) for 5th year students at VMMU.
Three weeks after the course, we are delighted to receive a great news that the BRM topic was included in the lecture by one of the VMMU participants (Mr. Tuan Anh) with a total of 200 students from VMMU (02 lectures 100 students each time). The students come from a variety of faculties including the Department of Epidemiology and the Department of Hygiene and Environmental Health. There have been very positive feedback that the BRM topic is now of interest to both students and leaders of VMMU.
This is the first step forward – and also the very first and impressive success of the course, thanks to the dedication and great efforts of Mr. Tuan Anh and VMMU leaders. However, we understand that there are still a lot of work to be done which need much more effort from both VMMU and Project personnel to achieve the project’s goal of helping to integrate BRM subject in the VMMU’s standard curriculum, allowing a larger number of students to be studied and trained more in-depth on this topic in the near future.
