With the contribution of leading experts and professionals, the workshop reported the progress of implementing the Livestock Industry Development Strategy for the period 2021-2030; reviewed and evaluatedinitial draft guidelines as well as current documents, circulars and guidelines related to the use of antibiotics in the treatment of animal diseases. Finally, the workshop contributed feasible solutions to help authorities complete guidelines on the use of antibiotics in the treatment of animal diseases.

Attending the workshop were more than 60 delegates, including authorities from the Department of Animal Health and the Department of Livestock Production of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, researchers from the Vietnam National University Agriculture, the Research Institute for Aquaculture, Oxford University Clinical Research Unit, leading universities in the fields of agriculture and forestry, as well asrepresentatives from animal feed companies.
Although antibiotics are commonly used to maintain animal health, ensure food security, and contribute to the protection of livelihoods and the sustainability of the livestock industry, the irresponsible and inappropriate use brings many risks such as creating drug-resistant bacteria, forming antibiotic residues in food, seriously affecting consumers' health.

Delegates called for feasible actions to ensure a sustainable agriculture, including: strengthening the management of the antibiotic market for livestock, raising awareness about antibiotic resistance for the community, and encouraging the application of alternative therapy in livestock and aquaculture.
